Silvassa is the capital of the Indian Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. During Portuguese rule, Silvassa was also known as Vila de Paço d'Arcos, after the town of the same name near Lisbon. The city has many factories and industries providing significant Government revenue, and thus allows it to maintain a low level of taxation. Silvassa is a town on the Daman Ganga River in western India, bordering the state of Gujarat. Formerly under Portuguese rule, it’s known for its varied tribal heritage which can be experienced at the Tribal Cultural Museum.
